AlfaPeople Collected 20,000 DKK for the Danish Kidney Association

Recently, AlfaPeople handed a check for DKK 20,124 to The Danish Kidney Association. The donation takes place in light of several colleagues’ personal experiences with kidney diseases in their lives, but also in line with AlfaPeople’s desire to support important issues in society.

Several employees at AlfaPeople currently have close family members or close friends who suffer from kidney disease. One of the stories, in particular, has made a great impression and has started a debate about organ donation as the husband of an AlfaPeople employee had both kidneys removed recently due to hereditary kidney disease. It has been an eye-opener for us all to see how much impact a serious illness may have on a family.

For AlfaPeople, it has been a conscious choice to support important causes, and over the last couple of years, the company has supported Team Rynkeby, Save the Orangutan, Cykelnerven and Cycle4Cancer, as well as making donations to Cancer Week and other similar projects.

On this occasion, AlfaPeople has chosen to support the good work of the Danish Kidney Association and a check of DKK 20,124 was paid to Vice-President Malene Madsen and Director Sven Gerner Nielsen on October 6th, 2018. The amount will be used to focus on intubating people who, for example, perish in accidents, so as to ensure their organs can be used for transplants. Although it sounds macabre, according to Malene Madsen, it is essential for the Danish Kidney Association to be able to offer more kidneys quickly to people who are a waiting list.

AlfaPeople’s amount to the Danish Kidney Association comes primarily through donations from colleagues. Throughout September, they had the opportunity to donate an amount that was deducted from the following month’s pay slip.

“I don’t even know anyone with kidney disease, but my colleague’s story really touched me. I have chosen to donate an amount so I can indirectly do something good for my colleague and show some care in this way,” said Mette Tørholm, Office Manager at AlfaPeople.

In addition, AlfaPeople chose to double the collected amount from all employees!
