From the city to the forest: AlfaPeople Brazil team excels in 2019 Marathon

Last November 23rd, the AlfaPeople Brazil team fled the concrete and flat terrain of the city to reconnect with nature. For its 2019 Marathon event, AlfaPeople Brazil chose the Landscape Trail Run, held at Fazenda Itahyê, a refuge of the Atlantic Forest just 40 minutes from São Paulo.

Among the more than 600 runners present were 12 AlfaPeople team members in the 6K, 12K and 18K events. Like every year, our race had a greater cause: for every 1 kilometer, AlfaPeople donated US$3.00 to charity.

The race was a challenge, both for runners who never ran, and for those who had already the experience, such as Solution Architect André Luiz da Silva Conrado.

“When we considered an adventure race, I imagined how challenging it would be because the degree of difficulty is much greater than street racing. But I was focused on overcoming it. I never imagined I would run 6k, but why not be even bolder and run 12k? Yes, we can, we can! And I did it, overcoming the pain, the heat, the endless climbs and conquering this challenge with our team of warriors.”

Trail running usually takes place in an impressive natural environment and is aimed at those who seek new challenges and interaction with nature.

“Participating in this trail run with AlfaPeople was an amazing experience involving determination and insurance”, PMO for Finance Barbara Oliveira said.

The race is open to everyone, including friends and relatives of AlfaPeople employees. Being able to run with friends was what motivated Alexandre Negrão de Jesus, from the development area, to participate this year.

“It had been a few years since I had been in the AlfaPeople Marathon, but this time I found motivation and also took my wife. This event is always a great opportunity to rediscover those colleagues allocated to clients we haven’t seen for a long time, remember the stories of projects we’ve been through and have a good laugh together. It was really cool, I hope to participate in many more races.”

Both routes cross the preserved forest, where participants discovered lush flora and fauna, springs, waterfalls and lookouts.

“Like every year, participating in the AlfaPeople Marathon is a great opportunity to get along with our colleagues in a different and healthy environment and help those in need. But unlike other years, the location and the challenge on Saturday was unique. It was fantastic!” Senior Account Manager Angelo Fernando Dalle Molle said.

The AlfaPeople Marathon aims to encourage employees to play sports and give back to the community.

João Pedro Pinheiro da Silva from Marketing is already preparing for the next marathon.

“Once again I am very pleased with the initiative. With the support of the group, we were able to go beyond what we thought were our limits, contribute to a great cause and successfully complete another race. I look forward to the next one.”
