AlfaPeople Sponsors the Endurance Runners Team in the 41st Edition of the Chicago Marathon

On October 7, 2018, the 41st edition of the Chicago Marathon was held – one of the 6 most important marathons in the world, known as the “World Marathon Majors”.

With more than 40,000 competitors in this edition of the 50 states of the United States and more than 100 countries around the world and around one million spectators, our sponsored team “Endurance Runners” consisting of coach Mauricio Ladino, Diego Barragán, Jorge Santana, Nicolas Botero, Maria Paula Martinez and our general manager in Colombia Félix Sastoque, ran one of the fastest competitions in the world.

In addition, the course went through 29 neighborhoods of the city, including Pilsen, the Chicago Theater and the Latino community.

For elite athletes and runners in general, running the 42,195 meters of the Chicago Marathon is one of the most important personal and sporting achievements, since, throughout the years in that competition, both the national and world records have been broken several times, promising to be year after year a more demanding competition.

Our Manager in Colombia, Felix Sastoque, tells us about his experience as an athlete:

“We trained for a year. The quarter before the competition, the training was very demanding: continuous strengthening work, track speed work and long distances on weekends. It was a great effort, but sometimes it was grueling… But when you cross the finish line, you feel it was worth it!”

AlfaPeople is committed to sports activities, as we strongly believe that physical activity prolongs and improves people’s quality of life, in addition to creating healthy habits leading to a bodily, mental and emotional benefit that the body obtains by being active.

Congratulations to the Endurance Runners team for their dedication and performance in the Chicago Marathon and for fulfilling a personal and group dream: Cross the finish line at Grant Park!
