Microsoft announces new name for Talent module: Dynamics 365 Human Resources

The Dynamics 365 suite has recently experienced a series of changes aimed at driving technical improvement and increased business productivity and efficiency, with a Microsoft new licensing model also rolled out.

As part of these changes ? effective February 1, 2020 ? the solution previously known as Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent will become Dynamics 365 Human Resources. With a new name, new functionality and improvements to the existing base solution designed for human resources teams, Microsoft has proven once again its commitment to transforming the employee experience in organizations across industries.

Dynamics 365 for Talent originally consisted of three applications: Attract, Onboard and Core HR. The first 2 applications were developed around the acquisition of talent. However, they have now been rolled back to leave Core HR as the main functionality in Dynamics 365 Human Resources.

What happens to current Attract and Onboard users?

For users who operate Dynamics 365 for Talent?s Attract and Onboard modules, Microsoft recommends migrating to LinkedIn Talent Hub, which is an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that allows you to obtain and manage documents, as well as conduct the recruiting process from start to finish and from a single site.

Moreover, LinkedIn Talent Hub offers full visibility at each stage of the hiring processes, interviews and even extended offers. In addition, LinkedIn offers the option of Recruiter System Connect (RSC), which connects LinkedIn Recruiter with some ATS providers, where it is responsible for recruiting talent more efficiently and provides the option to view updated profiles more directly within your ATS.

Microsoft will provide training earlier this year to teach customers how to use data export tools and to provide guided support for their migration projects.

How long can current customers continue to use Attract and Onboard?

The Dynamics 365 for Talent?s Attract and Onboard services will end on February, 2022. However, this will only be applicable to customers considered eligible by Microsoft, in particular, those who are finalizing their contract or renewing their Dynamics 365 plans.

Eligible customers are defined as:

  1. Current customers who have purchased or renewed Dynamics 365 for Talent, Dynamics 365 Unified Operations Plan or Dynamics 365 Plan before February 1, 2020
  2. Customers who have notified Microsoft through their account team or partner before February 1, 2020 that they intend to implement Attract / Onboard

Export or migration of data from Attract or Onboard

Eligible customers who continue to use the Attract or Onboard applications after February 1, 2020 must plan the export of their Attract or Onboard data before the end of their contract date or before February 1, 2022, when these products are officially removed from the market.

Introducing Dynamics 365 Human Resources

To improve the overall functionality of human resources departments, Microsoft has introduced Dynamics 365 Human Resources. The solution aims to:

  • Transform the employee experience by empowering talent with modern and mobile experiences.
  • Enable labor knowledge centralized in HR data that facilitates adequate provisions of information and analysis.
  • Optimize human resources programs with benefits such as training, certifications, payroll integrations, licensing, performance feedback and self-service programs.

Dynamics 365 Human Resources will connect people and operational data to facilitate companies? optimization of workforce costs and improve employee productivity.

Microsoft is continuing to develop and improve its renowned Dynamics 365 business suite, which is why at the end of 2019 it announced the acquisition of the rights to solutions such as FourVision (Microsoft’s main global partner in regards to talent and human resources functionality) and Elevate HR (provider of implementation services for Microsoft) to accelerate the innovation of human resources operations, including the management of vacations and leave, time and attendance, and other benefits. This new functionality will be implemented at the beginning of 2020.
