Human Resources at AlfaPeople: an Ongoing Learning Experience
It was 2012, I was in the fourth semester of my studies as a Human Resources Administration Technician and I needed career experience, because at the time I was working as an assistant at a medical center.
In September of that same year and after doing some job hunting, I got the chance to join Protab Solutions as a human resources assistant. Protab Solutions was in charge of managing two companies: Protab and AlfaPeople.
After a few typical job interviews and waiting for a week, they offered me the position and… without thinking twice, I accepted the job with high hopes!
I worked with another assistant and the area supervisor. Since I didn’t have any experience, I must confess it was hard for me to keep up. The first two years were really tough because my area covered everything related to HR. But in 2015, after gaining some confidence and settling into my role, what used to scare me only made me stronger and I received many shining acknowledgments.
The Big Change
In June of 2018, I was offered a new opportunity: switching over to AlfaPeople and devoting myself exclusively to that company’s human resources issues. I joined as an assistant, but was quickly promoted to Human Resources Analyst, which involved more responsibilities and many new challenges.
Human Resources is a new area at AlfaPeople. It’s coming together little by little through lots of internal changes and improvement ideas. The team consists of the Manager of Human Resources, the Recruitment Manager and I.
The vision of the Human Resources Area is that we take care of the payroll, but, in addition to this important operational process, we are getting ready to attract the best talent to the organization and come up with policies to retain them by using the latest Microsoft technology.
The area’s goals are the following:
- Encourage personal relationships.
- Promote education and training for the organization’s collaborators, allowing them to excel at their jobs.
- Stand out in terms of leadership and efficiency.
- Be knowledgeable about organizational development and payroll.
- Encourage commitment and motivation in workers to increase their productivity.
- Have the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Be proactive professionals and anticipate the company’s needs, but also know what talent and applicants are looking for.
I am currently undergoing my certification process for Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent, which will be our dashboard for hiring. This is a one-of-kind opportunity for my professional development.
My Experience
I enjoy every single day, every obstacle and curveball thrown my way. I feel very fortunate to work with quality people here at AlfaPeople, people who are warm and respectful and will always greet you with a smile.
AlfaPeople offers lots of experience to encourage learning. Ever since I joined the company, I’ve received support, trust and, obviously, patience from everyone who works at the company.
With all of the experience I’ve accrued, I’ve decided to continue my studies and graduate as a Human Resources Engineer. I have no doubt that this will be another step forward in my life and a contribution to the company, allowing both of us to keep growing and improving.
