Employee Spotlight: Meet Camilo Virguez, Senior Technical Solution Architect

AlfaPeople is made up of a diverse collection of individuals who have come together to achieve a single mission – to enable growth and provide unique, competitive business processes supported by flexible and capable Microsoft Dynamics solutions and industry add-ons with additional enhancements. We want to highlight the people behind the scenes with our Employee Spotlight blog series, during which we will sit down with employees to hear a little bit about the people who make the AlfaPeople culture so distinctive. This week, we talked to Camilo Virguez, Senior Technical Solution Architect for Managed Services, at AlfaPeople USA.

How I got started with AlfaPeople

I applied for a position while completing my final year of university in Colombia, where I studied Electronic Engineering. Due to my background, I received an offer as a Development and Support Engineer working for AlfaPeople Colombia’s office (back then in Columbus IT Andino) on October 25, 2004.

In April 2013, I migrated over the AlfaPeople US team.

My current role at AlfaPeople

Currently, I am a Senior Technical Solution Architect for Managed Services for AlfaPeople US. I review development requirements, analyze issues reported by customers, and design solutions for issues that can be either a Functional solution or a development solution. I like to summarize my role by stating: I provide solutions to any situation.

My typical day at AlfaPeople

My typical day includes any of the following:

  • Checking my schedule for meeting and tasks over breakfast
  • Meeting with customers and walking them through solutions
  • Going to a local coffee shop (with reliable Wi-Fi) to start the day

There are times I am tasked to create a new development or trace an error in an environment, which I enjoy. It’s very fulfilling. Checking configurations, seeing and analyzing data, essentially playing “Sherlock Holmes” is what my role entails.

Working at AlfaPeople

Working at AlfaPeople challenges and encourages me to do my best work by sending challenges for me to solve, including new projects, new implementations, new customers, etc. AlfaPeople gives me the opportunity to travel, meet with companies, and understand their needs. We implement systems that are multi-country solutions and each country has its own culture. Seeing it all blend in is incredible.

Favorite part of my job

Seeing success and sharing that with my teammates. I’ve worked on projects in Uruguay, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the US. I’ve worked remotely with Norway, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, England, Denmark, Belarus.

Although it has been 13 years, I still feel like it’s my first month of work due to new challenges and engaging work.

You cannot control what you feel, but you can control what you do after.
