AlfaPeople contributes with welfare home Casa de Pan

Last January, AlfaPeople Central America contributed to the purchase of school uniforms for the children of Casa de Pan welfare home.

Casa de Pan was created 40 years ago by inspirational couple Melba Jiménez and Victor Guzman when one of their children got very sick and the doctors diagnose was not promising. While Melba was in the hospital looking after her sick son, she met an orphaned child struggling with the same affliction. At that moment she made a promise to help every infant suffering from illness or abandonment. Melba and Victor adopted the orphaned boy and miraculously, both of them survived. Thus was born Casa de Pan.

Currently, the home houses approximately 44 children with different capacities and ages ranging from 4 to 22 years. Many children come from heartbreaking circumstances such as abuse and violence. Melba is the “mamá” and Victor is the “papá” to everyone and all of them make a concerted effort to provide an authentic family structure despite the number of kids.

Over the course of these 40 years, this marriage has seen many of their children become professionals and parents. All this product of the love, the education and the good principles that they instilled in them.

As part of its social welfare program, AlfaPeople Central America contacted Melba to help meet some of their needs. It was agreed to donate two complete uniforms for each child in the home for the start of the 2017 school year.

The first day of school was on Monday, February 6th and Alfa People’s workers joined them at the beginning of this new Adventure.
