Many factors contribute to project success. My experience in Project and Programme Management, which includes multi-million pound strategic recruitment projects, running sales, marketing, PR and scale-up projects, in addition to various IT systems implementations, has given me a great insight on how to run successful projects.
The research conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers exposed that an astonishing 97% of organisations believe Project Management is critical to business performance and organisational success. PMI’s paper: ‘The high cost of low performance’ discovered that high-performing organizations successfully complete 89% of their projects, while low performers complete only 36%.
The project management landscape is changing and many strategic projects and programmes are delivered in a more complex and uncertain environment. Organisations drive to be more competitive and efficient. Projects often fail due to the inability of many Project Managers to successfully apply the project management methodologies and techniques. This paper discusses the factors that have an impact on the successful project’s delivery and identifies which processes should be undertaken.
